Troubles Galore

I must tell you that when things go wrong, they seem to do it all together. When I didn’t have any bees for my observation hive, I thought that that was the end of my problems. It wasn’t. I had a workshop committee meeting about 25-30 miles away in Robertsdale, AL. and I was to pick up one of my committee members on my way. I first had to jump my Dodge Ram using my wife’s jumper cables and her car. I stopped and picked up my friend and we went on to the meeting. As soon as we got there and I turned off the engine, the dome lights went really dim. I tried to start the engine and nothing happened and the dome light went off completely. Now I know that I have a dead battery. Only my alternator was keeping the electric equipment going.
After the meeting, one of the other members gave me a jump. Good thing I kept my wife’s jumper cables. No one else had a set over there.
This morning, I jumped the truck using my wife’s car just as she was leaving to go to work. I let it idle until I got my empty brood box and super loaded. I still had that class to go to. I also had to buy a battery before I went to the class.
I drove to the mechanic’s place of business about 4 miles out of my way and he did a superb job of replacing my battery with a new one. My battery was two and a half years old. I also found out that the mechanic did not charge me for that battery. There was no rebate coming back and I was to pay the full price. However, he told me to go on to my class and we would settle up later.
I made the school and that was when I discovered my cell phone was missing. I have this band that goes around my arm just below the elbow. I clip my phone case to the band. I know that I had the phone in the plastic harness when I got dressed this morning. I didn’t discover the phone gone until I got to class, so I lost it somewhere between home and the mechanic’s, or between the mechanic’s and the school.
Anyway, I had the class and the young ones had a ball with my talk and interaction with them. In fact, the teacher had to remind me that I had gone into their snack time. I’ll give details later on this week.
I got back to the mechanic’s to see what the damage was going to be to my pocketbook. While I was there, I had pulled my reading glasses out of my pocket and and laid them on the desk so I could get my credit card out of my pocket. At this time, he said that he didn’t have time to get my money so come back later. I think this is how he forgot to ask for his money the last time. I went home and that was when I discovered my reading glasses were missing. I looked for my phone and even called it several times. I didn’t hear it anywhere, in the house, in the back yard where my empty equipment is stacked, and in the shop where I store my foundation-ed frames. I couldn’t hear it anywhere.
I went back to the mechanic’s shop to get my glasses and pay my bill. He said that he will call me when he get all the paperwork done. When I got home, my wife had just come in from work and asked me if, while I was at the meeting, did I put the phone on vibrate like I usually did at a meeting. That was when it dawned on me that that was why I couldn’t hear it ring. In the morning I will go outside and get on my hands and knees and crawl through the weeds and look for that blasted phone and then I will weed eat and mow the back yard down so I can see what is buried there. I think I have procrastinated again.
