General Rules for the Chautauqua/Workshop Judging of Bee Related Items:
- Anyone may enter.
- The judge(s) reserves the right to limit the number of entries on a first-come, first-admitted basis.
- There are fourteen show classes:
- Extracted honey: Light

- Contestants may enter in any or all classes, but may enter only once per class.
- The same honey cannot be entered in both the black jar class and another extracted honey class.
- All entries must have been produced by the submitter and within the last 12 months.
- This 12 month restriction does not apply to entries in photography, art, and gadgets.
- All entries for honey and candles except for the black jar class must be submitted in triplicate: i.e., three matching jars of honey, three boxes of cut-comb, or three candles of same type (poured or ornamental).
- Black jar entry is a single (one) glass jar to be provided by the judge(s).
- Submit extracted honey in one pound queenline glass jars.
- Submit chunk honey in standard one pound wide mouth glass jars with straight sides. Insert only one piece of comb in jar.
- The sole criterion in the black jar class is flavor. Your entry will be placed on shelf by staff.
- Only one jar of honey of honey is needed for the black jar category.
- Submit creamed honey in a clear container or jar.
- Beeswax must be pure beeswax.
- Meade must be submitted in a clear, standard 750 ml bottle with a fully inserted cork, no label.
- Art and photography must be presented in a self-standing frame, and each accompanied with a 3″ x 5″ card giving the title and brief story behind the piece.
- Each gadget must be accompanied with a 3″ x 5″ card explaining its use.
- Gift packs have to have product(s) of the hive along with a card explaining what the product is and when it was produced.
- Do not put a Producer label any of the products in any way: an identifying code sticker will be assigned to your entry at registration.
- All entries must be submitted by 9:00 am on the day of judging.
- Judging criteria are selected at the discretion of the Judge(s), and the decision of Judge(s) is final.
- (There was a $3.00 entry fee for each category, but the fee has been waived due to a generous donation of a beekeeper.)
