Homemade Honey Heater
By ekpeach in General | 4 comments
I have this upright freezer that has b
een modified into a honey heater. The motor has been disconnected from the electrical wires. Two light receptacles were hung in the freezer, one on the inside left wall just higher than a 5 gallon bucket and one on the opposite inside wall, same height. The electric power wires were ran to each receptacle in parallel so if one 100w bulb burns out the other will keep burning. A thermostat was hooked up between the power source and the first light. The thermostat is set on 125° F.

I have a freezer warming cabinet but the thermostat has broken and the beekeeping equipment supplier no longer sells the kits. Any ideas where I can purchase a replacement kit?

David,
I use thermostats from plumbing stores or even a used one from a piece of junked out hot water heater.
