Workshop Preparations

I am getting ready to go to a workshop tomorrow. After I mow the grass in both front and back yards, I will get some bee equipment (two extractors — 1- 4 frame solid basket and 1- 2 frame flip basket) ready to take with me to Chipley, FL to sale for the 4 H club here in Pensacola. There will be some equipment that the beekeepers have either outgrown or they are getting ready to upgrade and need the room in their apiaries or honey houses.

The workshop will be for training and learning about new products and/or procedures for beekeeping. These workshops are open to all beekeepers and the general public. Any who wish to know more about beekeeping, will find friendly folks ready and willing to talk about their bees. All yawl come if you can.

Is this a workshop that is held every year?

Do they also do a swap meet? You take you old stuff to sell or trade to someone else for their old stuff?

Some of the beekeeping clubs put on a workshop once a year while others do not attempt the feat. It takes a lot of work and co-operation of the club members to organize a workshop. Usually the workshops are conducted by the state Beekeepers association, the Entomology department of some universities, or a joint endeavor of several nearby local bee clubs.

In this case, the Tupelo Bee Association in Panama City, FL organized the workshop, and the place at which it was held in Chipley, FL belonged to a member of that club.

Not all workshops have room for an equipment sale. But, yes, that is the time to buy, sale, or trade anything you wish as long as it pertains to beekeeping.
